New Believer FellowshipIn September 1999, just after graduating with my Ph.D. studies in medical science, I came to the U.S.A. from mainland China with my own dream in this land. Three months later, I heard the gospel. In October 2000, I finally received the Lord and became a Christian in a denomination after several months of struggling and confusion. Today I am one of the trainees in the Full-Time Training in Anaheim. Thinking back on my experience during my three years in the U.S.A., I can testify how mercifully my Lord came to me when I was against God and pursued many vain things. He led me to the proper path to seek after Him. In this testimony, I would like to share how a fellowship time for new Believers in the local church in Richardson affected and helped me in knowing the truth and experiences of Christ.
After I became a Christian, I was eager to know what the Bible said and what kind of God I believed in. Last June, with God's mercy, I contacted the believers meeting with the local church and attended their family meeting and the Lord's table meeting. I was impressed by their speaking one by one in the meeting. Everyone's sharing was so wonderful. I wondered why they could experience Christ so fully in their daily life and share so deeply, touching and enlightening my heart. One month later, we had a fellowship time for new believers which took eleven weeks. In this time, there were three parts: truth lessons (the Triune God, Christ, the Spirit, the church, Satan, the history of the local church, etc.), life practices (morning revival, calling on the Lord's name, prayer, pray-reading, consecration, prophesying, reading the Bible, etc.) and life lessons, which are included in the ministry books written by Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. We took classes on the weekends and practiced what we were learning during the week days.
I remembered that the first week's sharing was on morning revival, which changed my old habit of getting up late for many years. Contacting God and eating the “heavenly manna” in the morning refreshed me for the whole day. From then on, my Christian life was new. When I sat there to listen to the truth, I felt that I was sitting in the light. Through this time and in practicing, we were getting to know the truth and revelation in the Bible. The Triune God is not merely the truth revealed in the Bible, but also for us to experience and enjoy. Today, the Lord is not only sitting on the throne in the heavens but also indwelling our spirit (Romans 8:11). I knew that the Old Testament is a series of pictures and types of Christ and the church, while the New Testament is the reality and Christ is the all-inclusive one who is everything to us. My life was changed and controlled completely by this vision. God, to me, is no longer objective and outward, but subjective and inward. In addition, this fellowship also opened my spiritual appetite for reading the ministry books of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. These books help unlock the Bible. What is God's heart's desire and purpose in creating this universe? How does God fulfill His eternal plan? What is the meaning of our existing on the earth?
With the knowing of the truth, I realize that our experience of God depends on our knowledge of God. As a human being, we need to not only have this eternal life but also grow up in it. We can experience all the riches of this life and express all His human virtues. In order to grow in this eternal life which we received within us, we need to experience Him.
